The 2018 midterm elections were a defining moment for women in U.S. politics, as more women were elected to Congress than ever before. Will the momentum from the “Year of the Woman” continue into the 2020 campaign? Just how far away is the U.S. from electing a female president?
This 10-week, 10-hour course will explore the role of American women in defining and shaping contemporary U.S. politics as citizens, voters, first ladies, political candidates and leaders. Particular attention will be paid to key 20th– and 21st-century female political figures as well as the challenges faced by women running for political office.
This course is designed for learners with an upper-intermediate level of English.
