This trimester we will examine the history and practice of America’s most popular and culturally significant music forms, and gain a deeper appreciation of the work of some of the country’s important musical artists. In so doing students will analyze the ways in which American music culture illuminates social tensions, exacerbates and/or relieves deep-seated racism, and offers a response to the open question of national identity.
This course is designed for learners with an Advanced or Proficiency level of English.
