“The Reader” directed by Stephen Daldry

“The base of the film is already a success. Bernhard Schlink, a lawyer and almost unknown German writer, emerged from his anonymity in 1995 thanks to a partially autobiographical novel in which Nazism was considered from one of the few prisms that still remained to be explored on this barbarity. The book placed the reader in the position of empathizing with the guard of a concentration camp accused of war crimes. Hare's screen adaptation has not only not ignored such a thorny approach but has presented the dilemma in a very elegant and intelligent way.
