"A moment of rest” by Antonio Orejudo

“Like a ghost from the past, Arturo Cifuentes reappears one day in the life of the narrator Antonio Orejudo. Cifuentes is an old friend from college, with whom Orejudo shared a house in New York, when they both found his first jobs in the United States, and who he supposed was already established in that country. Seventeen years have passed since the last time they saw each other, Cifuentes has divorced and has returned to Spain to take up a position in the faculty where they studied.”
