“Days of flames” by Juan Iturralde

“Told in the first person by its protagonist, Tomás Labayen, an investigating judge, sentenced to death during the contest, waits in a Madrid cell for that sentence to take place. The novel argues and traces the tragic history of this character and his family environment, following the various lines in which his existence is produced and torn apart during the war.
