“Kitaj's imagery revolves around human figures, their clothing, the objects that belong to them, and the civilized landscapes that surround them. This is of the man and the cultural elaborations that surround him. Kitaj belongs to the group of English painters who, from Stanley Spencer to Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, David Hockney or John Davies, have remained faithful to the figurative representation of man.
