"Also the rain" by Iciar Bollaín

Cochabamba, Bolivia. Year 2000. Sebastián (Gael García Bernal) and Costa (Luis Tosar) have decided to make a film about Christopher Columbus and the discovery of America. While Sebastián, the director, tries to demystify the character by presenting him as an ambitious and unscrupulous man; Costa, the producer, only cares about adjusting the film to the modest budget they have; Precisely for this reason he chooses Bolivia, for being one of the cheapest countries and with the largest indigenous population in Latin America. The film is shot in Cochabamba, where the privatization and sale of water to a multinational sows such unease among the population that it will cause the infamous Bolivian Water War (April 2000) to explode. Five hundred years after the discovery of America, sticks and stones once again face the steel and gunpowder of a modern army. But this time the fight is not for gold, but for the most essential of vital elements: water.
