Book Trailers in Young Learners 5

In February, the Young Learners 5 class worked on a video book trailer project. A book trailer is a short video promoting a book, similar to a movie trailer. In groups of three, students chose a book they had enjoyed and created a short script with a storyboard to explain the most important elements of the story. Most groups created videos in the format of a detailed book review, while others got creative and acted out their favorite scenes from the book with costumes and props.

They filmed the book trailers using devices they brought from home, like mobile phones, iPads and digital cameras. Some students even edited their final project to include music and photos of characters. The final results were terrific and, of course, the best part was the film screening party to admire everyone's work!

In February the class Young Learners 5 developed a filmed project of “book trailers”. A "book trailer" is a small video, something similar to those made from movies, but to promote a book. In groups of three, the students chose a book that they liked and adapted a small script to which they added a story board to tell the most important elements of the story. Most of the groups recorded the videos as if they were the reviews of the book, other groups, however, interpreted the most important scenes of the book with great creativity and for this they used costumes and other accessories.

They filmed the trailers using their own devices that they brought from home, such as mobile phones, tablets and cameras. Some students also put together their own projects with video editing programs. The results were pleasantly satisfying and the best part came when we were able to admire everyone's work.
