Inside the Wyeths with Curator Timothy J. Standring: June 10th, 19pm

The American Cultural Studies Program (ACS) is delighted to present an evening with Timothy J. Standring, curator of the exhibition Wyeth. Andrew and Jamie in the Studio, currently ongoing at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza.

This event will feature a lecture by Dr. Standring entitled “Messy Painting and Fleeting Moments: The Studio Practice of Andrew and Jamie Wyeth,” to be followed by a question and answer session moderated by Alexa Brooks, US Art History instructor for ACS.

With engaging whimsy combined with scholarly insights, Dr. Standring will focus his lecture on the studio practices of Andrew and Jamie Wyeth for whom inspiration for their great works came in a flash. Both artists would bring their floating ideas to visible form while simultaneously striving to sustain the instantaneity of the moment. Both, as Standing will show, capitalize on the interplay between imagination, memory, and experience channeled through their dazzling technical abilities.

This event will be presented in English in its entirety. please visit the IIE agenda in order to reserve your seats.
