All the fall Favorites with YL 1B (Saturdays)

In addition to improving their language skills this quarter, Matt's YL 1B class has been exploring the culture and traditions behind some of our beloved fall holidays. Two of their favorites have been Halloween and Thanksgiving.
For Halloween, the students made masks that they wore as they visited some of the other classes while “trick-or-treating.” We also read a spooky story and learned some scary vocabulary words that we used to play a round of Halloween bingo.

To celebrate Thanksgiving, we read two short books that explained the typical food people eat on this day. The students were a bit surprised to find out about candied yams and pumpkin pie. We later joined up with Emily's class (YL 1A) to complete a fun art project based on the traditional hand-traced turkey. Everyone had a great time!
