“Ideas Laboratory”: a space to present and discuss ongoing research

Since its inauguration, the International Institute has been a space for sharing and debating ideas. With this story in mind, American Space Madrid presents a new initiative – a laboratory of ideas – which seeks to put researchers from different disciplines that are developing new research projects. Each month, a guest will circulate a text – a book chapter, a thesis segment, a grant proposal – that we will share with academics, artists, and thinkers from Spain and the United States, in order to create a space for debate and reflection.

This month, we open the session with a text by Félix Zamora Gómez, a doctoral student at the Department of Romance Languages & Literature at the University of Michigan, who will present the chapter “25 Years of Spanish Peace: The Invention of a Francoist Aesthetics of Objectivity and the Constitution of a New Visual Regime of History.”

In April, we will continue with the work of Christine Martinez, doctoral student at the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at New York University and guest researcher at the NYU-Madrid Graduate Research Initiative.
