This 20-hour course It is designed for upper-intermediate and advanced learners who are interested in improving their English language skills through the study of American short stories. This winter we will read some of the best-known short stories written by acclaimed women authors from the US. Each week we will meet to discuss and analyze a different text.

Students will interpret and analyze short stories by a variety of authors, including Zora Neale Hurston, Dorothy Parker, Flannery O'Connor, and Amy Tan. They will improve their oral communication skills through conversation and debate, develop skills of written expression through various in-class activities, and increase their confidence in English while at the same time expanding their knowledge of American literature.
