Is your family binational and do your children speak Spanish and English?
Would you like your children to get to know their “American side” better? Enroll them in the Kids and Teens Culture Club and help them to gain an appreciation of the culture of the United States, in addition to developing reading skills in English.
What is the Bilingual Play Group and Kids' Culture Club?
The Kids and Teens Culture Club is a club for bilingual children (Spanish / English) between 6 and 14 years old who live in Madrid in a bicultural family environment. Some children have an American father or mother; Others have lived in an English-speaking country, or have attended schools where the primary language was English, in the US or another country. They all have as a common denominator an interest in maintaining and promoting, in addition to English, cultural ties with the United States.
What's your goal?
Our goal is to offer children from binational families the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of North American language and culture in a fun and stimulating environment.
The International Institute is a bicultural institution that has been in Spain for more than 120 years, helping to expand knowledge and promoting understanding between the cultures of Spain and the United States. We believe that our mission begins at an early age.
What kinds of activities are carried out?
The activities have as a common thread the history and traditions of the United States. They include reading, crafts, songs, and the celebration of the specific US holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, among others.
The Bilingual Play Group and Kids Culture Club uses the same materials as American elementary schools.
When are the classes?
The Bilingual Play Group and Kids Culture Club meets once a week, after school, for ninety minutes.
What will our children learn?
The Bilingual Playgroup and Kids Culture Club provides children not only with knowledge and use of the English language, but also adds a broad understanding of American culture.

What is the Two Cultures Kids Club? – ¿Qué es Two-Cultures Kids Club?
Es un club para niños y jóvenes bilingües (español/ inglés) de edades comprendidas entre los 11 y 15 años que viven en Madrid en un entorno familiar bicultural. Algunos niños tienen padre o madre norteamericano, y otros han vivido en un país de habla inglesa, o han asistido a colegios donde la lengua vehicular era el inglés, en EEUU u otro país. Todos tienen como denominador común el interés en mantener y fomentar, además del inglés, los lazos culturales con los Estados Unidos.

Nuestro objetivo es ofrecer a los niños y jóvenes de familias binacionales la oportunidad de profundizar en su conocimiento de la lengua y cultura norteamericanas en un entorno natural.

El programa de actividades tienen como hilo conductor la historia y tradiciones de los Estados Unidos. Las actividades que se desarrollan incluyen lectura, manualidades, canciones y la celebración de las tradiciones específicas de los Estados Unidos : Halloween, Acción de Gracias, Día de la Independencia, entre otros.
En el Two-Cultures Teens Club se utilizan los mismos materiales que en la escuela primaria en los EE.UU.
