#ReadWithASM
From American Space Madrid and the Library of the International Institute, we continue with the Reading and Critical Thinking Club so that you can continue enjoying American literature from home.
Our first virtual meeting of the fall will be dedicated to the analysis of "The Swimmer" (1960) by John Cheever (1912-1982). First published in 1964 in The New Yorker, this emblematic story of the "Chekhov of the suburbs" can be obtained through the Internet in both Spanish and English. For those of you who prefer to read it on paper, we recommend the edition published by Literatura Random House in 2018, available at The book house.
After an individualized reading, the work will be discussed in a group using the zoom tool. We have Karen Secrist, PhD., as moderator who will give a brief introduction, ask questions and encourage the conversation. We will also offer a reading guide to deepen understanding of the text and encourage conversation during the session.
Those registered for this activity will receive an email before the session to confirm participation in the virtual session.
