We continue with the Reading Club meetings to analyze and discuss different works of North American literature, in a new format and with a new facilitator.
After a prior individualized reading, the works will be discussed in a group on the day of the meeting. we have Maria Willstedt as a moderator who will make a brief introduction, ask questions and animate the conversation.
For the month of March we will focus on the story "Those who leave Omelas" by Ursula K. Leguin. It's found available on the internet, but you can also read any of the editions published on paper.
“It is one of the best science fiction texts of all time, a story of great literary and moral impact.
Using deliberately vague and vivid descriptions, the narrator describes a midsummer festival in the utopian city of Omelas, whose prosperity depends on one boy's perpetual misery. He was nominated for the Locus Award for Best Short Story in 1974 and won the Hugo Award for Best Short Story in the same year.
