The Family Book and Recipe Club will connect stories about food sustainability and American children's literature with recipes “to take home”, containing foods and ingredients that appear in the texts used in each of the sessions. All recipes will be from the United States, with a focus on sustainable eating.
In each Family Reading Club session, families will listen to and discuss a story with their children and a moderator, addressing issues and important ideas around sustainability and environmental preservation. Families will return home with the “take home” recipes for a family activity with their children, trying new American dishes and addressing topics from the text. Families and children will journal with recipes and family photos to document their collaborative learning experiences and share with members of the American Space community in Madrid.
