Workshops for students from 14 to 17 years old on fake news and verification of digital information.
The main objective of the training is to teach youth routines, tricks and tools to detect false information that circulates on the Internet in general and on social networks in particular. In addition, other purposes of the workshop are: to instill responsible and ethical use of social networks; reflect on the importance
to be well-informed citizens; discuss the personal brand and the mark we leave on the Internet and also encourage critical thinking, learning the English language and teamwork.
The workshops will be held with different classes of high school students on November 19, 29 and 30 and December 3.
Teacher:
Nereida Carrillo has a doctorate cum laude in Journalism and Communication from the UAB. She currently works as a freelance journalist, she collaborates with the newspaper ARA and with the Capçalera magazine of the Col·legi de Periodistes. She is a professor at various universities -UPF, UAB and UOC- and has also taught journalism and digital communication for the Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya, for the Xarxa de Televisions Locals, for the
School of Entrepreneurial Women of Barcelona Activa and for the Spanish League of Video Games. She has previously worked as a journalist in the Barcelona and Tarragona newsrooms of Cadena SER and on the TV3 news website.
Regarding the issue of fake news and verification on the internet, he has worked from different perspectives, teaching face-to-face and online courses for the Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya; with the realization of various reports for the newspaper ARA and for the Capçalera magazine and also from research, with the reading of texts and the production of articles such as the exhibition on fake news of the Communication Library of the UAB.
