We continue the course with a new activity for children between 8 and 12 years old.
In this first meeting of the year, we explore the possibilities we have to relate to music and sound through space, instruments and the body. And for this, we will create new sound routes and we will know the scores of actions to finally create a joint improvisation with our instruments and everyday objects. Don't forget to bring your instrument to class!
The American composer John Cage described music as a form of "meaningless play", that is to say "an affirmation of life and not the attempt to bring order out of chaos... a simple way of waking up to the way we are living".
In this activity, boys and girls will explore new ways of understanding and creating music, based on the idea that musical creation is something that it happens. They will learn from great American composers and experiment with a variety of instruments to explore how making music is also a way of listening. The activity seeks to familiarize young people with the contributions that music and musicians have made to the history of the United States, while also learning autonomy after the act of playing.
The activity takes place at the María Dolores Pradera Municipal School of Music.
