Screening of the documentary “Sorolla, the journeys of light” written and directed by Sonia Tercero.
Before the screening, Carmen de la Guardia (Autonomous University of Madrid) and Sonia Tercero will talk about Sorolla's American experience and how he influenced American culture and cultural relations between Spain and the United States.
The 55-minute documentary reviews the biography of Joaquín Sorolla, with an important focus on his experience in the United States: the commission from the Hispanic Society, his friendship with Huntington, the influence he had in American society at the time, its international recognition, etc.
This event is part of a small cycle organized for the opening of the exhibition "The Treasures of the Hispanic Society of America" Visions of the Hispanic world" at the Prado Museum. The cycle began with a talk by Dr. McQuade, Deputy Director of the Hispanic Society of America and is completed with a talk by Blanca Pons Sorolla entitled "Huntington and Sorolla" on May 9.
