Sounds of America: Learn to Play Ukulele — 6-Week In-Person Ukulele Club
We started the first American Space Madrid ukulele club. The ukulele is an instrument with historical ties to American culture, especially Hawaii. In this activity classroom de 6 weeks, the participants will go to the International Institute every Thursday From the 17: 30 to 18: 30 to learn to play the ukulele. We ask that participants commit to coming to each session (as long as they are healthy). It will be an activity English en for participants between 11-14 years. The families of the participants can borrow a ukulele from American Space Madrid. Once registered, we will send you the loan policy. Although the activity will be in English, the facilitator speaks Spanish. In the event that circumstances change, the activity will take place in virtual format.

About the facilitator
The ukulele club facilitator, Jack Sheehan, has been playing music since he was 12 years old. Starting with guitar and rock & roll, he eventually learned other instruments including bass guitar, percussion instruments, singing, and ukulele. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2014, he started teaching instruments, and he currently teaches music classes in English as a language assistant. In this class Jack will teach the fundamentals of rhythm and harmony through ukulele, utilizing some of the most famous ukulele songs. The ukukele's popularity is growing, and it's a great instrument for young people interested in music.
