¿Qué es el Instituto Internacional?
The International Institute is a North American non-profit institution founded in Boston in 1892. After more than 120 years promoting educational and cultural exchange between Spain and the United States, the International Institute is currently the meeting point in Madrid for the culture of both countries. True to its founding mission, the Institute remains committed to spreading the contribution of women in all areas of public life.
El Instituto Internacional es una institución norteamericana sin ánimo de lucro fundada en Boston en 1892 que desde entonces desarrolla su actividad en España. Tras más de 120 años favoreciendo el intercambio educativo y cultural entre España y los Estados Unidos, el Instituto Internacional es en la actualidad el punto de encuentro en Madrid de la cultura de ambos países. Fiel a su origen fundacional, el Instituto mantiene su compromiso de difundir la contribución de las mujeres en todos los ámbitos de la vida pública.
¿Cómo lleva a cabo su misión?
The Institute contributes to this dialogue between the United States and Spain by promoting knowledge among Spanish citizens of North American society and culture through its North American Language and Culture Program, the organization of meetings and talks between specialists from both countries, and the development of the IIE library. As a result of the International Institute’s agreements with different North American universities, annually more than a thousand North American university students take courses in different disciplines at the Institute’s headquarters.
El Instituto contribuye a ese diálogo entre los Estados Unidos y España favoreciendo el conocimiento entre los ciudadanos españoles de la sociedad y cultura norteamericanas mediante su Programa de Lengua y Cultura Norteamericanas, la organización de encuentros y coloquios entre especialistas de ambos países y el desarrollo de su biblioteca. Fruto de los acuerdos del Instituto Internacional con distintas universidades norteamericanas, anualmente más de un millar de universitarios norteamericanos siguen cursos de distintas disciplinas en la sede del Instituto.
