Spiders and Insects
Kids’ Club is still learning about spiders and insects. They have read two more Eric Carle books, The Very Grouchy Ladybug and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. They looked at the life cycle of a caterpillar and compared fiction (story) books with non-fiction (information) books.
This Kids’ Club group loves crafts! They made ladybugs with movable wings and played a game where they tried to get as many segments of a caterpillar’s body as possible so they could make the longest caterpillar. After playing the game the students decided to make their own caterpillars to take home.
This term a student from the University of California Irvine, Cynthia Torres, is doing an internship with the International Institute English Program. Cynthia is helping out in Kids’ Club and Young Learners 4, and will be with us for part of Summer in the City, our Urban Camp in the month of July. Cynthia is majoring in English and Spanish, with a minor in Education.
