First Week of Girls Tech

Last week the American Space Madrid launched US Embassy Madrid’s first free Girls Tech program with Camp Tecnológico at the International Institute. Close to 300 young girls signed up for the program which provides 28 girls from 11- 14 years old with workshops that meet every two weeks to expose the students to innovative programs in science and technology. Divided into two teams, Cambridge and Silicon Valley, the girls started their first session utilizing “Scratch” (scratch.mit.edu) to learn the fundamentals of coding. In the following weeks Cambridge and Silicon Valley will participate in activities involving, “Makey Makey,” “WebMaker,” “Pixl and Popcorn,” “LittleBits,” and “mOway.”
