Young Learners 5 members took out their creative pens and wrote about their families. They wrote one entry per family member, and each entry had a word limit that corresponded to the age of that particular family member. After completing their descriptions, the young leaners made colorful books to fill with their writing.
Young Learners 3 members read the book “On Linden Square,” by Kate Sullivan, which describes the activity of an American neighborhood after a huge snow storm. Afterwards YL 3 members drew and described their own neighborhoods. They will send their drawings to Kate Sullivan, who promises in exchange to send back a postcard.
This week in YL5 and YL6, we talked about pop stars, pop music and how pop culture influences teenage life. We chose one student to have a makeover and be rebranded as a pop star. The transformations were incredible!
YL 5 and YL 6 members worked in pairs to write short stories using animals as characters. The plot of the stories touched upon teenage problems. The winner of this writing competition will be posted on the blog. Good luck kids!

The Young Learners 1 group celebrated Halloween by making pumpkins and ghosts. They also practiced the famous phrase ‘Trick or Treat’ with each other. We also made skeletons, the following week, in order to talk about the parts of the body. Great work, kids!
The Kids Club this Fall trimester focused on the book Matilda by Roald Dahl. Dahl is best known for his book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which has had two movie versions made. Matilda has also been made into a great movie. I was pleasantly surprised at how much the kids enjoyed reading the book.
