"Light is older than love” by Ricardo Menéndez Salmón

 

“On a Monday in 1350, when Europe is recovering from the Black Death, the future Pope Gregory XI visits the Tuscan painter Adriano de Robertis to destroy his latest work, the blasphemous Bearded Virgin. On February 25, 1970, the American painter Mark Rothko cut his wrists in his studio in New York. On September 11, 2001, as the world enters the Age of Grief, the Russian painter Vsevolod Semiasin writes a letter in which he reveals the reasons for his madness”.
