Buenos dias! it's time to tell a story…

The Institute's library has found persuasive and effective ways to encourage the youngest to read. One of them is the sessions of storytelling in english that this month of June have just finished with the cycle Fables Around the World that has transported the participants once a month and throughout the course to a place called fableshire .But what makes this cycle so unique? The work of the narrators and the chosen stories are key elements as well as the way in which the sessions are structured so that the narration evolves. Sessions begin with wordgame, which is used to work on the most complicated or unusual words related to the chosen story. Although without a doubt and for many, the hallmark of the successive cycles are the songs that the narrators have created for the children. The session starts with hello song (Good morning it's time to tell a story) and the narration will not start until everyone has sung “Storyrelling song” (Once upon a time our story….starts!) And yes, there is also a farewell song, “Goodbye Song” how could it be otherwise. The narrators Brian, Carrie, Trisha, Alito and Marcus together with Ana, librarian of the Institute, are already working on the new cycle for next year and we expect pleasant surprises and news. So stay tuned or, better yet, write to Ana Alonso (aalonso@iie.es) to receive the information directly.

So long, fair well, goodbye, good bye

Until next month a storytelling time

Bye bye…byebye!
