Happy New Year! 2015 is off to a great start in our Young Learners 4 English class! On the first day, the students met again to catch up and listen to the adventures of all the classmates during Christmas. They then prepared 20 questions for a presentation on college life by three college students. MIT who were studying in Madrid. Each YL 4 student chose two questions to ask in English during the presentation. It was very informative, and afterward, here is what students had to say about the experience:

  • It was very interesting when they said that it would be necessary to have an interest in something like music or science [as an extracurricular activity].
  • It was cool when they talked about the people who live on campus.
  • I thought it was very interesting that they were going to college and didn't know what they wanted to do in the future. I thought if they went to a technical university they would like to be a computer technician or something related.
  • It seemed very interesting that they do all of life at the university – they eat, sleep, play and study there and they only have 3 months when they don't have to study.
  • I thought it was very interesting when they talked about what they want to be when they get out of college and don't know it yet.
  • MIT seems like a very smart university.

This month, in addition to learning about life and places in the city, asking for information, grammar, and professions, they also learned about Martin Luther King, Jr., whose birthday was celebrated in the US on January 19. The life of this great man and the history of the civil rights movement is very fascinating. Everyone agreed that Martin Luther King, Jr. was a very brave and good person.

In January you will be able to read about the Young Learners 4 activities in English to celebrate Valentine's Day!
