#MentorTalks: How to combat misinformation during the pandemic

If you have fifteen minutes, you have a mentor. Join the next #MentorTalks session, organized by International Exchange Alumni, via a Facebook Live meetup. In the session, you will have the opportunity to connect with alumni from exchange programs organized by the United States Department of State and to meet leaders from various professional fields.

This Wednesday May 20th at @internationalexchangealumni, we will discuss the value of media literacy. As the world battles the coronavirus pandemic, it is also battling rumors and misinformation about the COVID-19 virus that can lead the public to believe and even take harmful action. In this program, we'll learn why media literacy is so important in this public health crisis and how you can recognize which news stories include correct information and which don't.

We will be joined by Michelle Ciulla Lipkin, from the National Association for Media Literacy, and Dr. Ankuran Dutta, from Gauhati University. Come ready to ask questions and be inspired! Michelle and Ankuran will provide methods for identifying misinformation and great examples of how you can prevent the spread of harmful rumours. Use #MentorTalks when asking your question and see you online at @internationalexchangealumni!
