The 2023-2024 call for partial scholarships or “Ruth Lee Kennedy” travel grants is open

The International Institute in Spain and the Commission for Cultural, Educational and Scientific Exchange between Spain and the United States of America (Fulbright Program) announce the call for two partial scholarships (travel grants) for research in the United States. These scholarships are named after the American Hispanist Ruth Lee Kennedy, scholar of the Theater of the Golden Age and, especially, of the work of Tirso de Molina. Professor Ruth L. Kennedy taught Spanish language and literature at the Smith College (Massachusetts, USA).

With the collaboration of the Commission, the number of bags can be doubled and include beneficiaries of both sexes. The Fulbright Program provides beneficiaries with an accident and illness insurance policy, in addition to other services and benefits of Fulbright scholarships.

RUTH LEE KENNEDY SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • Having Spanish nationality. Applicants who reside or are currently in the United States will not be eligible for scholarships. Nor will applications be accepted from those who have US nationality or an automatic right to acquire it by birth or filiation.
  • Have obtained the doctorate in a Spanish university from June 2016 and before the deadline for submitting applications. In the case of women who demonstrate having enjoyed maternity leave, the date for obtaining the doctorate will be extended by 12 months for each child they have had, with the aim of compensating for the time spent caring for their children for the purposes of achieving Academic merits.
  • Own a adequate knowledge of the English language – spoken and written – demonstrated using TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo.
  • Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously done study or research at a US university or research center.
