What is the North American English for Children and Youth program?
The American English Program for Children and Young Adults offers classes at all levels of English for students ages 6 to 17. The courses, taught by native American teachers, combine communication with creativity so that students have authentic experiences in English and “live” the language while learning about American culture.
What are the American English classes for children and teenagers like?
In the Institute's English classes, students practice the four English skills (speaking, listening, writing, reading) and learn about American culture in a dynamic and communicative environment.
- Emphasis on speaking skills and pronunciation:
- discussions, role play, games, dramatization and conversation.
- Group projects on current and cultural issues.
- Reading and writing activities to expand vocabulary and review grammar.
- Classrooms equipped to incorporate new technologies for teaching English.
- Virtual Campus to access resources from home.
- Multimedia resources for blogging, webquests, research, and interactive activities in English.
What are our levels?
The levels are defined according to the student's course and level of English.
The courses:
- Level 4a: (4th and 5th primary; 9 – 11 years old)
- Level 4b: (6th grade; 11 – 12 years old)
- Level 5: (ESO 1 and 2; 12 – 13 years old)
- Level 6: (ESO 3 and 4; 13 – 15 years)
- Level 7: (1st and 2nd Baccalaureate 16-17 years)
The levels are designed for a student to progress from Beginner/Beginner (YL1) to Advanced/Teens Advanced (YL7).
When do the courses take place?
Classes are held from September to June in three trimesters. Classes are offered Monday through Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. In addition, during the month of July the Urban English Camp: Summer in the City is organized.
What kind of teachers teach the classes?
Experienced teachers come from the United States and Canada.

- The course fee includes access to the resources in English and Spanish of the International Institute's extensive library, as well as to all its services (loan of books, magazines and DVDs). Enrolled students also have priority access to activities at the Institute.
¿Qué es el programa de Inglés Norteamericano para niños y Jóvenes?
El Programa de Inglés Norteamericano para niños y jóvenes ofrece clases de todos niveles de inglés para alumnos desde los 6 hasta los 17 años. Los cursos, impartidos por profesores nativos norteamericanos, combinan la comunicación con la creatividad para que los alumnos tengan experiencias auténticas en inglés y “vivan” el idioma al tiempo que se acercan la cultura norteamericana.
¿Cómo son las clases de inglés norteamericano para niños y jóvenes?
En las clases de inglés del Instituto los alumnos practican las cuatro destrezas de inglés (hablar, escuchar, escribir, leer) y se acercan a la cultura norteamericana en un ambiente dinámico y comunicativo.
- Énfasis en las habilidades orales y la pronunciación:
- Debates, role plays, juegos, dramatización y conversación.
- Proyectos en grupo sobre temas actuales y culturales.
- Actividades de lectura y escritura para ampliar el vocabulario y repasar gramática.
- Aulas equipadas para incorporación de las nuevas tecnologías para la enseñanza del inglés.
- Campus Virtual para acceder a recursos desde casa.
- Recursos multimedia para hacer blogs, “webquests,” investigaciones, y actividades interactivas en inglés.
¿Cuáles son nuestro niveles?
Los niveles se definen en función del cursos y nivel de inglés del alumno.
Los cursos:
Level 4a:(4º y 5º primaria; 9 – 11 años)
Level 4b: (6º primaria; 11 – 12 años)
Level 5: ( ESO 1 y 2; 12 – 13 años)
Level 6: (ESO 3 y 4; 13 – 15 años)
Level 7: 1ª y 2 Bachillerato 16-17 años)
Los niveles están diseñados para que un alumno progrese desde el nivel Principiante/Beginner (YL1) al nivel Avanzado/Teens Advanced (YL7).
¿Cuándo se realizan los cursos?
Las clases se imparten desde septiembre hasta junio en tres trimestres. En cuanto al horario, se ofertan clases de lunes a viernes por la tarde y también los sábados por la mañana. Además, durante el mes de julio se organiza el Campamento Urbano en Inglés: Summer in the City.
¿Qué tipo de profesores imparten las clases?
Los profesores, con amplia experiencia, proceden de los Estados Unidos o Canadá.
