On the occasion of the premiere at the Teatro Real in Madrid of the opera “Street Scene” by Kurt Weill, the International Institute, in collaboration with the Teatro Real in Madrid and sponsored by the US Embassy, ​​presents this cycle of conferences by Dr. Gabriel Menéndez:

Dates:

  • Tuesday, January 16, 2018 (1st Session) – From Berthold Brecht to Broadway: Lady in the Dark (New York, 1940) and One Touch of Venus (1943).
  • Tuesday, January 30, 2018 (2nd session) – The hybrid art of “Musical Tragedy”: Down in the Valley (New York, 1948) and Lost in the Stars (1949).
  • Tuesday, February 6, 2018 (3rd session) – The Impossible Art Form: Street Scene (New York, 1947).
