Concert 4 – with Jorge López García
As part of the "Deep Listening" course, offered within our American Cultural Bites program, we invite you to a concert with the musician Jorge López García.
Jorge López García (Spain, 1980) has extensive experience performing contemporary music and chamber music. His performances have deep ties to his dedication as a pedagogue, and his interests in performance and teaching are apparent in his multifaceted work that combines cultural outreach and fostering of artistic creativity. He obtained his bachelor's degree from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in clarinet and bass clarinet, receiving a scholarship from Cajastur. He has participated in contemporary music events such as Arco 21 and Gnosis, and has developed activities for institutions such as the University of Oviedo, the Gijón Municipal Foundation for Culture and LABoral CACI. He is a member of the contemporary music group Ensemble Modelo62, and with this group he has been invited to such renowned organizations as the Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik (Darmstadt, Germany), Festival Tou Scene (Stavanger, Norway ), Gaudeamus Festival (Utrecht, The Netherlands), and the Orpheus Instituut (Ghent, Belgium). He has been a clarinet teacher at the Gijón Conservatory of Music and Dance since 2007.
The concert takes place in the auditorium of the International Institute (C/Miguel Ángel, 8)
