Spiritual music to discover human identity
Aglaia Trio
Gudrún Ólafsdóttir, mezzo-soprano – Elena Jáuregui, violin – Francisco Javier Jáuregui, guitar
In this concert, Elena Jáuregui will make the Spanish premiere of nostrobis (Our Land), the solo violin sonata by American composer Stephanie Anne Boyd. In addition, as a celebration of Music Day (November 22), in honor of its patron Saint Cecilia, the Aglaia Trio will make the premiere in Spain of “A song for Saint Cecilia” by the Anglo-Maltese composer Ivor Bonnici. The trio will also perform works such as "Llama de amor viva" with text by San Juan de la Cruz and music by the National Music Award David del Puerto or "El Amor es mi Fé" composed by Francisco Javier Jáuregui and based on the text of the Sufi mystic poet and philosopher Ibn Arabi.
This concert is inspired by the words of the Andalusian Muslim scholar Ibn Arabi (1165-1240) "Because my religion is Love" from his famous poem Taryumân al-ashwâq (The interpreter of wishes), lyrics of one of the songs in the program . The Aglaia Trio, in its desire to understand the world and for the people of the world to understand each other, will explore different musical and poetic manifestations of love and faith, from traditions such as Islam, Judaism or Christianity. Spirituality, instead of dividing us according to our beliefs, can unite us in the universal religion of love. And music, the universal language, is one of the keys.
