Curiosity Machine Artificial Intelligence (AI) Family Challenge

We start the international project Curiosity MACHINE at the American Space Madrid. Thanks to Iridescent and Power to Code, Madrid and Valencia have been chosen as the only European venues for the programme. Its objective is to bring Artificial Intelligence closer to families and create a community that strengthens the STEAM learning ecosystem through teamwork.

Join a global community and learn the basics of artificial intelligence in order to solve problems.

Your family will work together to identify a problem in your community and prototype a solution using artificial intelligence. No prior experience necessary!

You are invited to join the series of workshops that make up the artificial intelligence program for families and that will take place during 2018 (from May to December) at the American Space in Madrid at the International Institute.

The objectives of the program are the following:

• Build a STEAM learning ecosystem in our community and create a space for our families to learn together.
• Ensure that our families acquire a deeper understanding of the concepts of artificial intelligence through the workshops that will take place throughout the year (15 sessions)
• Encourage our families to explore and learn together.

30 families from the American Space in Madrid will participate in practical activities that will culminate in a free project. These activities are inspired by real applications of artificial intelligence, science and engineering.

Selection process: The first 30 families that apply to enroll in the challenge will be admitted to the program.

Important information for teams:

• At least one adult (over 18) per team, maximum two. The adult must be a parent or legal guardian.
• It is recommended for children from 8 to 15 years old (there are two divisions) but there is no minimum age.
• On January 1, 2018 the children should not be older than 15 years.
• The maximum number of members in a family is 6.
• There may be children who are not children.

• May 19 from 11 a.m. to 13 p.m.
• May 26 from 11 a.m. to 13 p.m.
• June 2 from 11 a.m. to 13 p.m.
• June 9 from 11 a.m. to 13 p.m.
• June 16 from 11 a.m. to 13 p.m. in The House of the Reader in the Matadero
