International Institute > Calendar > Other activities > Made in the USA: Family Maker Club – September 2018

In collaboration with Andrea Brady, Made in the USA is an activity where parents and children have the opportunity to participate together in activities maker. The club takes place once a month and focuses on creating things together that families can easily replicate at home.

General data

Directed: To families with children from 8 years + a family member (father, grandfather, etc.)

bilingual activity

Hours: One Saturday each month from 12:00 to 13:00 p.m. at the American Space Madrid at the International Institute

Made in the USA (Made in the United States)

Made in the USA (Made in the United States) consists of an activity creación for families in which parents can accompany their children in sessions of creación, strengthening skills and experience through the American Space community in Madrid. In each session, families engage in sensory STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities and art experiments with their children, led by a creador expert in the field. The main objective of the activity is to provide the necessary tools so that families can practice creation activities together at home, developing critical thinking skills through creative projects.

Andrea Brady

With a BA in Art from the University of California Berkeley and an MFA from Mills College, California, Andrea is a practicing sculptor who moved to Spain after exhibiting widely in California. In her work she recycles found objects and “trash.” She is currently focused on making "machines" that incorporate electronics and 3D-printed parts. Over the years she has conducted art workshops for children of all ages, and uses art as a vehicle for learning English in her classes for young learners. She has also taught “Go Electric” at the Institute, a class in which young students conduct experiments in electricity and magnetism.
