At American Space Madrid, we set up a Makers Club, a collaborative work space for manufacturing, learning, exploring and exchanging knowledge in which we will use both new technologies and traditional tools. You can make it!!
GENERAL INFORMATION
Directed: To boys and girls from 9 to 12 years old
Hours: Thursdays from 18 to 20 p.m. at American Space Madrid at the International Institute
Days:
– November: 3, 10, 17 and 24
- December 1st
Maximum number of participants: 12
OBJECTIVES:
• Disseminate the maker culture, understood as a set of practices based on DIY or “do it yourself” and experimentation in the creation processes.
• Promote the meeting of creative boys and girls to promote synergies and collaboration between them. • Promote and disseminate new technologies, innovation and prototyping, bases of STEAM skills.
• Establish links with other projects of interest. In order for these objectives to be achieved, we offer: • Facilitate a common space for digital and analog creation by making various tools available free of charge.
• A mentor who will propose activities and guide the club's participants.
• Create autonomy for the participants to create collaborative learning among equals. You could have volunteers (fathers, mothers, acquaintances) who want to give a specific workshop or mini talk about the maker world.
WORK GROUPS
Animatronix We will experiment with LittleBits, a modular system to build electronic systems with small pieces magnetized together and without soldering. With its electronic components, ideal for boys and girls, you can build small electronic structures, robots and small machines.
Design and 3D Printing 3D printing and parametric design. We will rethink what use we want to give to the object to be designed. This working group can be started if we have Printer. Waiting for Sara to confirm if we can use hers or if American Space has one of them.
steam art
We will do art projects combining science, technology, engineering, and math.
– Geodesic dome
– Chladni Plate
– Conductive plasticine
– bouncy balls
OPERATION – Every Thursday the participants choose a working group where they can experiment during the two-hour session.
