Do it yourself! Be a Maker!

In this session, we will explore “Stories told: Thanksgiving Day”

With an introductory workshop on animation design with Scratch, a way of programming developed by MIT that is based on using a series of blocks that fit together to form programming sentences. We will introduce the participants to the American culture by explaining What is Thanksgiving about? They will create a story with one or two characters and a background with music to set us on this iconic day for US culture. For the participants, it will be essential that the parents create a scratch account that the boys and girls can use on the day of the workshop. Details will be provided with confirmation of registration.

The Maker Club at American Space Madrid is a collaborative workspace for making, learning, exploring and sharing knowledge in which we will use both new technologies and traditional tools. You can make it!!

Objectives:

• Disseminate the maker culture, understood as a set of practices based on DIY or "do it yourself" and experimentation in the creation processes.
• Promote the meeting of creative boys and girls to promote synergies and collaboration between them.
• Promote and disseminate new technologies, innovation and prototyping, bases of STEAM skills.
• Establish links with other projects of interest. In order for these objectives to be achieved, we offer:
  • Facilitate a common space for digital and analog creation by providing various tools for free.
  • A mentor who will propose activities and guide the club's participants.
  • Create autonomy for the participants to create collaborative learning among equals. You could have volunteers (fathers, mothers, acquaintances) who want to give a specific workshop or mini talk about the maker world.
