We celebrate the centenary of the achievement in 1920 of women's suffrage in the US with a reflection from the American and Spanish perspective. Dr. Rosario Ruiz Franco will talk about the reflection of the achievement of North American women on the Spanish reality as well as the debate that led to obtaining the right to vote for Spanish women in 1931.

Rosario Ruiz-Franco She has a PhD in Geography and History (specializing in Contemporary History) from the Complutense University, and a Master's in Information and Documentation from the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M). She is currently Full Professor of Contemporary History at UC3M, and has been Visiting assistant professor at the University of Minnesota (USA). He has collaborated as a teacher in the program of the Center for International Studies of the Ortega Marañón Foundation, and has carried out various teaching and research stays at the universities of: Université Paris Sorbonne Paris IV (France), Universita degli studi Roma Tre (Italy), Cergy-Pontoise University. Paris (France), at the University of Bath (United Kingdom), Sciences Po Lille (France), and at the University of Colima (Mexico). Her main line of research focuses on the history of women and gender relations in contemporary Spain, particularly from 1931 to 1978, of which she has numerous publications and interventions in national and international academic forums.
