Nuevo director en IIE
We are excited to share with you the news that Prof. Chad Leahy, Chair of Spanish Language, Literary, and Cultural Studies at the University of Denver, has arrived in Madrid to assume the position as Director of the International Institute in Madrid.
Chad is a graduate of Boston University, where he obtained degrees in both Hispanic Literature and Music Education. While pursuing his undergraduate studies at BU, Chad spent a study-abroad semester at the International Institute, which proved a life-altering experience for him and led to his obtaining an M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies from Brown University. He has taught at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Villanova University, and Denver. His scholarly work focuses on early modern Spanish literature and culture, particularly Cervantes and Lope de Vega. He has taught English to Spanish students, and Spanish language to Anglophone students in the U.S. He has served as department chair and led a departmental restructuring project. He directed the University’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences First-Generation Students Program. He is also a music lover, vocalist, and sometime performer on percussion, mandolin, guitar, and upright bass.
Chad came to Madrid on September 1 and has begun meeting with Institute staff, familiarizing himself with his new duties, and following the completion of this summer’s improvement projects in the Institute building.
We look forward to working with Chad Leahy. He is excited about the job and eager to play a role in shaping the future of an institution he loves. He looks forward to meeting members of the International Institute community soon.
