How curators shape contemporary art
Have you ever wondered how museum exhibits are created?
This short, interactive course takes you inside the curatorial process, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how contemporary art exhibitions are conceived and produced.
Through hands-on activities , exhibition space visits , and group discussions , students will explore how curators research artists, develop robust curatorial discourses, and design engaging interpretive materials. From spatial layout and visual narrative to educational resources and outreach strategies, this course provides a professional perspective on exhibition development from its earliest stages .
With a focus on North American artists currently exhibiting in Madrid and on digital platforms, participants will work together to create and present their own curatorial proposals. The course concludes with a virtual showcase of mini-exhibitions, giving each participant the opportunity to realize their curatorial vision.
Schedule:
Sessions twice a week for two weeks
Dates: Â Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 1, 3, 8 and 10
2 in-person classroom sessions
2 visits to galleries or art centers in Madrid.
