The International Institute welcomes Dr. Alba Campo Rosillo, one of the curators of the exhibition currently on in Madrid, American Art from the Thyssen Collection, to give a public talk about some of the show’s highlights. Learn why we should all visit this exhibition in its final month, before many of these exceptional works are removed from public view. Alba’s talk and the Q&A will be conducted in English.
As Terra Foundation Research Fellow in American Art, Alba was tasked with reimagining and reinstalling Baron Thyssen’s extensive and diverse collection of American art. Over the past two years she has been immersed in researching the history of this extraordinary collection of American art in Europe. She authored the essay “Baron Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Dissemination of American Art” for the exhibition catalogue that accompanies the exhibition. Apart from the Terra Foundation Research Fellowship, Alba has received numerous awards in support of her scholarship on American art, including a residential fellowship at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. and a CASVA travel fellowship. The exhibition of Baron Thyssen’s American art collection opened in Madrid in November 2021 and will finally close on October 16, 2022.
