Winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award and the National Book Award in the United States and Britain´s TS Eliot Prize, internationally acclaimed poet and memoirist Mark Doty will be in the International Institute Madrid March 15th at 7:30pm.
He has published eight books of poems and three memoirs. His third collection of poems was entitled My Alexandria where he wrote about the AIDS pandemic. His memoir Heaven´s Coast is a meditative account of losing a loved one. That book won the PEN Martha Albrand Award First Nonfiction.
Doty has taught at Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Sarah Lawrence and NYU. He is currently the distinguished Professor and Writer-in-Residence in the Department of English at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He is a chancellor for the Academy of American Poets.
