Our SUMMER IN THE CITY camp has started off really well. Our first two weekly themes were THE WONDERS OF THE WORLD and FANTASTIC STORIES. On Monday, June 25th we had ANOTHER great show, this time with the Young Learners and Kids’ Club Monday and Wednesday groups. End-of-term celebrations at the Institute
On Saturday, June 16th, the Young Learners Saturday classes did a show for their parents and classmates. Young Learners 2 and 4 did “Readers’ Theater” pieces, Young Learners 3 did a newscast with some amazing stories, and Young Learners 6 students acted as greeters and presenters for all the other acts. Kids Club travels around the world with Flat Stanley
This spring Kids’ Club students in Patti’s group read Flat Stanley, by Jeff Brown. This book tells the story of a boy, Stanley Lambchop, who becomes flat after a bulletin board falls on him in the night. Being flat allows Stanley to have lots of adventures. In May Alicia’s class learned about writing instructions, so they decided to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, an American favorite, to practice explaining a recipe.
