YL 4 MW Class – Edgar Allan Poe
The YL4 M-W group tackled the Poe classic “Murders in the Rue Morgue” which is said to be the first modern detective story. Students then tested each other with true/false questions based on the story. We ended class with a round “Cluedo.” (It was Colonel Mustard with the dagger in the library).

The YL 2 group started off the trimester with activities on Dr. Martin Luther King using the past tense. The students learned about his importance in the history of the racial equality movement in the United States. We discussed the nonviolent protests he led to gain equality for all peoples. It’s 2017 and we have started the winter trimester at the International Institute. The students in Young Learners 5 know each well after spending the fall trimester learning and laughing together. This winter we have a new student and he is already one of the group! We started the trimester off by, what else?!,
Young Learners 1 – “Over and Under”
The YL1 class did a creative weaving craft that also served to help practice and remember the prepositions “over” and “under.” We also learned about different professions and then played a guessing game where to help practice forming questions: “Are you a doctor?” “Are you an astronaut?”
