Presentation of the book Why was I released to the Ministry of War? by Diego Hidalgo
Participate:
Alberto Oliart, former Minister of Defense
José Álvarez Junco, historian and writings
Diego Hidalgo, editor of Dracena
Álvarez Junco says in the prologue that «Diego Hidalgo had to represent in the history of Spain the difficult role of republican of order» and that «called for the Ministry of War, he adopted as a project to modernize the army, on the one hand, and attracting him, on the other, to the new regime» of the Second Republic; however, the outbreak of the general insurrection of October 1934 —known as the Asturias Revolution— cut short his ministerial work and his political aspirations.
Immediately aware of his bitter role in all those bloody events, he decided to write this allegation about his decisions that today, so many years later and as Professor Álvarez Junco adds, becomes an “exciting book. Few relive the situation of 1934 with such truth and strength. Few express so acutely the complexities of the Spanish Republic at that time.»http://www.editorialdracena.com/por-que-fui-lanzado-del-ministerio- from the war/
