TECHNOVATION CHALLENGE MEETING SPAIN:
Come and meet the most important technological entrepreneurship competition for girls at an international level
The International Institute will host the Technovation Challenge Spain meeting on December 2, organized by American Space Madrid, Power to code, Espiral Educación y Tecnología, and the US Embassy.

Next Saturday, December 2, come and meet Katie Morton, Director of Alliances for the non-profit organization Iridescent, and responsible for organizing the Technovation Challenge. Katie will be with us to explain the objectives of this program that has established itself as the most important technological entrepreneurship competition for girls in the world.
Technovation Challenge is a free program that offers girls the opportunity to participate in a competition in which to develop an entrepreneurial project that involves the creation of a mobile application that addresses a social problem. The projects, devised by groups ofgirls between 10 and 18 years old With the help of mentors, they will compete in an international online contest. The winners, selected by the Technovation Challenge in San Francisco, will participate in the final competition that takes place in this city every year. Since 2009, more than 15.000 girls from more than 100 countries have participated in this program.
During the meeting, Katie Morton will explain the operation of this initiative and her work as supervisor of the more than 100 "Regional Ambassadors" that are part of the project, as well as the formation of alliances with international organizations, and the expansion world of the Technovation competition. We will also hear testimonials from Spanish girls and mentors who have participated in previous editions of the Technovation Challenge.

Katie Morton is Director of Partnerships for the non-profit organization Iridescent, and responsible for organizing the Technovation Challenge, the world's largest tech entrepreneurship contest for girls.
Katie oversees the work of over 100 Regional Ambassadors, forms alliances with international organizations, and supports the global expansion of the competition. Technovation.
Katie is passionate about international development and especially girls' education, her professional activity has focused on providing opportunities to underprivileged children from a variety of backgrounds – from urban slums in Bangalore, India, to poor neighborhoods in the United States.
Before joining Iridescent, Katie worked in India, helping an after-school organization develop a strategy for sustainable growth. In the United States, she has been the director of programs for refugee and immigrant families. Her most passionate areas of dedication are women's empowerment, gender equality, and social entrepreneurship in multicultural and international populations.

Technovation Challenge in The Adventure of Knowledge
Technovation is a girl-led technology and entrepreneurship show. Teams of a maximum of 5 girls will be formed, who, accompanied by a mentor, will identify a real demand, create a related App and a hypothetical business plan for the application. At the end of the 10 sessions of the activity, if the group wants, they will have the opportunity to launch the application on the market and participate in a competition with teams of girls from other countries. It will be programmed in App Inventor and the Lean Startup and Design Thinking methodology will be followed. The program is taught in Spanish although the deliverables will be prepared in English. No previous experience is necessary.
