"Science and Innovation in Spain, how to advance?"
SPEAKER: Dr. Teresa Risk Alcaide
General Director of Research, Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, since the end of July 2018.
Born in Madrid, Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (1990) and Doctor in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (1996). She has developed her professional career as a researcher and professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where she has been a professor since 2003.
She has been director of the Center for Industrial Electronics (2007-2011), Deputy Director of Research and International Relations at the ETSII-UPM (2006-2007) and Director of the Department of Automation, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Industrial Computing (2014-2018). Since 2003 she has been the UPM representative in the TIME (Top Industrial Managers in Europe) network and a member of its management committee. She has regularly participated in evaluation panels for national projects and EU framework programmes.
His research activity has been focused on the design of embedded systems, reconfigurable hardware systems, and electronics for the Internet of Things (IoT). He has participated in some 60 national and European research, development and innovation projects, almost always in collaboration with industry. As a result of his research work, he has published more than 200 scientific papers in international journals and conference proceedings.
In July 2019, she received the Honorable Mention for Industrial Engineering from the Official College of Engineers of the Community of Madrid.
As General Director, she has carried out main functions in actions related to the Promotion of Innovation (Innovative Public Purchase, Motivated Reports for tax deductions for R&D&i activities, registration of innovative SMEs, OTRIs and Technology Centers, the promotion of INNPULSO network, etc.), as well as the preparation and monitoring of R&D&i action plans, including the development of the Information System on Science, Technology and Innovation (SICTi).
