#GirlsTech Summer Camp: July 4-15: SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICATIONS

Do you want to know much more about technology, programming and electronics for free?

If you are a good student and your family cannot pay for this type of workshop,

#GirlsTech gives you the opportunity to be part of an exclusive group with access to the latest technology tools and American culture and values.

The United States Embassy sponsors the #GirlsTech program for the second time. The program, which was created last fall 2015, continues this summer with a first edition in Valencia and a second edition in Madrid.

The program aims to attract school-age girls to the ever-evolving field of technology and motivate them to pursue science, math, engineering or technology-related careers, known in the United States by the acronym Science, technology, engineering and mathematics: STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics, in English).

On this occasion, the Embassy sponsors 30 scholarships to participate in this 20-hour technology training program for girls administered by the MujeresTech Association at the American Space Madrid, located at the International Institute in Spain, and at the American Space Valencia, located at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Girls between the ages of 9 and 12 will be eligible for these scholarships. The scholarship includes registration fees, 10 workshops of 2 hours duration and the necessary material for the development of these workshops. The girls will be accompanied by a monitor during the 2 hours of each workshop.

The courses in Valencia and Madrid will take place on the following dates and times:

  • Valencia (Silicon Valley Team): from Monday to Friday from June 13 to June 24, from 10 am to 12 pm American Space Valencia (Polytechnic university of Valencia).
  • Madrid (Cambridge Team): from Monday to Friday from July 4 to July 15, from 10 am to 12 pm American Space Madrid (International Institute, Miguel Ángel 8, Madrid).

Attention: The commitment to attend all sessions of the course is an essential requirement. If the student accumulates more than one unjustified absence of attendance, the American Space Madrid, will agree to the cancellation of registration that had been formalized and the final certificate will not be offered.

The training itinerary is as follows:
